I'm a big believer that you're intitled to something then you should get it - and that's no different
for birthday freebies. If you can get discounts and free items, why not take advantage of that?
These are the birthday freebies I got this year. I have gotten more freebies in previous years,
but I'll explain more of what I could have gotten and why I didn't. Or view my old post here.

1. Dusk. If you're a Dusk rewards member, you can get $20 off when you spend $40 or more. There was nothing I wanted this year so if I didn't end up spending it, I was going to offer it to somebody who I overheard buying instore. My mum, however, decided that she wanted to get the Pretty As Bow Glass Mugs 2 Pack (she ended up smashing one on the carpet and they later were recalled for weak handles, so she got a full refund anyway) so she added the Tis the Season! Frosty's Frosting Snowman Bath Bomb and Scented Card Air Freshener Moon to her order as Christmas gifts for me and the All is Bright Watermelon Candy Hand Cream for herself.

2. David Jones. If you're a David Jones Rewards member, you get a $10 voucher with no minimum spend. My go to this time of year is to get a new tree ornament. There was one I liked a lot (that I ended up getting later with an additional gift voucher), but I opted for these Gingerbread Biscuits. I really enjoyed them.

3. Bakers Delight. If you're a part of Dough Getters, you can get a free scone for your birthday. I'm not the biggest fan of scones in general so I opted for the Choc Mud scone. It wasn't half bad.

4. Soul Origin. Gone are the days when you'd get a free salad, now you're able to get a free slice for your birthday. I believe you can choose between a brownie bite and the caramel macadamia slice. I went with the caramel macadamia slice. It was smaller than expected but I'm glad I got to try it. The girl working there was really sweet too and she's the only one who wished me a happy birthday ^_^

5. Boost Juice. I look forward to my free Boost juice the most every year. I make sure to go with something on the expensive side as it feels like a luxury. I went with the limited Glowin’ Guava with strawberries, guava nectar, freshly juiced apple, pink prickly pear, sorbet and ice this year. It wasn't my favourite (I usually switch between Pink Paradise and Berry Peachy) but I'm glad I got to try it, and I enjoyed it well enough.

6. JB HiFi. With a $10 voucher in hand, my go-to is to always get a new t-shirt at JB HiFi. The first year I got my Knight Rider t-shirt for $9.99. The second year I got a Xena Warrior Princess t-shirt and The Big Lebowski t-shirt for $4.99 each. There were none under $10 this year so I was considering getting a keyring or something small - but I instantly fell in love with the design of the Creature from the Black Lagoon t-shirt and went over budget.

7. Nandos. Nandos gives you a $15 voucher to use so I tried their Avo Parmesan Crunch (with no chicken) salad. It was $12 so I had some to spare so I gave the rest to my Mum to use at lunch. We also shared chips.
8. Donut King. Although they offer a free cold or hot drink, I don't drink any milk-based drinks (so milkshakes were out of question) nor hot drinks (so no hot chocolate, coffee or tea). I was going to offer it to my Mum until the girl working there told me that I could get a cold drink from the fridge, so I got the coke you see above.

9. Pancake Parlour. For my free sweet pancake, I went with the vegan Alice's Wonderland Surprise pancake. I had wanted to eat in store, but I was running out of time and didn't want it to go to waste. So, I placed my order via the app, picked it up and ate it at home (after a 20-minute drive). It was my first time getting takeaway.

10. Grill'd. Funny enough, my freebie isn't actually in this photo as I got free sweet potato chips. But I love that Grill'd offers free snack chips every day in your birthday month with a burger or salad purchase.
I don't get Grill'd too often because it's expensive and messy, but I really wanted to try the Wicked pack (burger with snack chips, Remedy Raspberry Sodaly and emerald mayo). The burger could have used more goat's cheese as it slowly disappeared into the burger but overall, it was delicious. I opted for no beef which saved me an extra $5. Two lots of chips was a little much but I had enough green mayo to get me through both.
Eating the mayo was a weird experience - it was like eating paint and it coated my mouth and tongue. It tasted like normal mayo though. I hadn't tried Sodaly before either and always wanted to. I know it's marketed as a better for you soft drink, but I prefer sweeter/more sugar. But all up, I'm glad I got to try it.
And one lot of free snack chips out of the month isn't bad at all.

11. Subway. You can get a free drink and cookie at Subway with any sub, wrap or salad purchase. I usually don't use these kinds of birthday freebies because they cost me money. I prefer a freebie that is just that with no extra conditions/spend. But I was out, needed food and I get the Veggie Delight with Avo which is luckily one of the cheapest on the menu. It was also an excuse to try the new salted caramel cookie.

12. Hungry Jacks. The same night I picked up my free Subway, I got my free whopper from Hungry Jacks (I saved the Subway wrap for the following day). The plant-based whopper is forever my go to favourite!

13. Myer. Just like David Jones and JB HiFi, Myer gives you a $10 voucher for your birthday with no minimum spend. I knew I wanted this Luxe Christmas Glittered Faux Coral Bauble which was on sale for under $10, so I gave the rest to my Mum to use. Although I kept what she bought and it's now on my Christmas tree too.

14. Village Cinemas. You can get free small popcorn for up to 30 days after your birthday at Village Cinemas. I knew I was going to see Merrily We Roll Along in early December, so I patiently waited and got it then. Because it's so drying, I used my points to also get a free coke (along with a movie ticket so it became a free night).

15. Red Rooster. Although they used to be more generous giving away a free meal, being on the lowest tier I got $3 off my purchase. I get the Reds Veggie Burger combo. Quinoa + beetroot = heaven.
Freebies I could have used and why I didn't:
- TGI Fridays - They give a $15 voucher to use all November. $15 doesn't go far at TGIs and I was broke for most of the month and also never got an opportunity to actually go.
- Sporting Globe - They give a generous $25 off but I never got the chance to go sadly.
- San Churro - To claim free churros for two at San Churro you need to have visited within the year and I hadn't. I have previous years but as there was a local store, then there wasn't and now there is again, it just wasn't something that I actively thought about getting.
- Cheesecake Shop - I didn't use it because it was only a discount and I didn't want to eat a whole cake on my own. I'd already had some cake from there for my birthday anyway.
I'm sure there are others that I'm either forgetting or haven't renewed my subscription since everything has moved to apps... I still have so many physical cards (a lot I don't use) it's ridiculous!
All up, it was a successful month of birthday freebies!
