So you want to dress like Chanel Oberlin (#2, #3, #5 or #6) from Scream Queens

So I, right now, like most people, am currently obsessed with the TV show Scream Queens. Not so much for the subject matter itself, as it scares the bejesus out of me every week (who is the red devil? I just don't know!), but naturally for the fashion! I absolutely love the wardrobe of the Chanel's each week - and that is why, I keep tuning in.

So naturally, after watching each episode, I want every single thing that the girls wear. I don't believe you have to have a lot of money to dress the way they do though - so I've raided the ASOS sale so find you the pieces that just scream Chanel. I've tried to keep everything as low as possible so starting our own Chanel wardrobe is super easy!

Under the cut. Click for details :) I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I had fun making it! :)

Over at Tinsel and Tapshoes!

AGH! My little Cry Little Sister is going unused again. This saddens me greatly =( I do have ideas - it's just a matter of sitting down and doing them. I will have some outfit posts for you in the not too near future. I have my tripod all ready to go so that'll be soon ... It's just been extremely hard to post things now that I'm trying to have a more minimalist approach to spending. CLS is actually quite good because if I post something usually the temptation slowly melts away. Plus I'm saving for my epic birthday in New Zealand! Woot!

I have been working hard over at my sister blog Tinsel And Tap Shoes if you'd like to check it out. I've included the links to some recent posts but there's also a bunch of other stuff plus extras written by other people.

INTERVIEWS WITH:
and more!

EVENTS:
- Normie Rowe FRENZY! Album Launch Write Up + Photos
- Jasmine Rae Heartbeat Album Launch Write Up + Photos
- An Evening With Michael Bolton Write Up
and more!
Including a LOT about Oz Comic Con Adelaide!

THOUGHTS ON:
- Chappie (2015)
and more!

Thanks for reading!

BLOG: CLS and TaTS

So, I've been keeping a little secret from you guys - this is part of the reason why I've been a little inactive with my blog as of late.

But ... drumroll, please! ... I have two new things to show you! I have started my own website/portfolio and I have recently started a new blog with two friends (one hasn't posted yet).

---

Cry Little Sister is my sister site to this one, I guess you could call it. I'm usually pretty secretive about my personal life, but it seems like a good idea to have somewhere to showcase my work. It is not 100% complete but it is pretty damn near close.

---

Tinsel and Tap Shoes will focus mostly on entertainment - so think movies, TV, interviews, musicals, events etc. I will still be featuring all my event posts and interviews on this blog, but TaTS will probably feature more content - but I'm still working on those details. Also, of course, there will be content that others post which won't be posted on this blog. So if you're interested, please feel free to follow :) Links will be posted on my Twitter page for easy reading, if you'd prefer to follow that way.

So I am writing this post on my Mac and having to go from my computer to this for images. It's totes fun. Sorry for the lack of posts but it has been a busy couple of weeks. If I can figure out how to edit on my Mac, it'll be smooth sailings from here! Stay tuned ...

BLOG: How To Survive Your First Pop Culture Convention

With Armageddon quickly approaching this weekend, I thought I would do a post on some helpful tips I've learnt from being a con-goer. Armageddon will mark the 8th convention I've ever attended - which, compared to many devote con-goers, it's actually quite a small number.

I've attended:
2011 - Supanova
2012 - Supanova and Oz Comic Con
2013 - Supanova and All Hells Breaks Loose IV
2014 - Supanova and Oz Comic Con (Day1/Day2)

Going to your first con can be super overwhelming. I've spoken to other people who have said that they really didn't enjoy their first con so if you're planning on going to Armageddon or another con, here's some helpful tips for surviving your first convention*.

* Please note that my con experience is based on getting photo ops, autographs, attending panels and minor shopping. Your experiences will probably be different to mine but hopefully some of these tips will help you out :)

BLOG: Why I've chosen to do Buy Nothing New again this month.

This October, I decided that I would be doing Buy Nothing New again. It is a charity that promotes borrowing, reuse, recycling and buying only what you need instead of what you want.

-

Sometimes I go to the Tip with my Dad. The landfill situation makes me so sad. So many things can be recycled but people are just too lazy to do so. I know for a fact of a big company who just dumped millions of dollars worth of merchandise at the Tip to become landfill. If they had taken the merchandise out of it's cardboard boxes and packaging then the landfill waste would have been so miniscule. I would have also benefited to donate the merchandise instead of just easily throwing it away.

Things like this makes me so sad in my gut that this is why I was inspired to do it the first time and why I have decided to do it again this year.

Even though it is already half way during the month, you can still take the Buy Nothing New pledge with me here > http://www.buynothingnew.com.au/pledge/

-

No one said it was going to be easy. It is meant to be hard but it is so rewarding. This month the only things I have purchased has been a program from Once (I NEEDED this! I have had to try and track down old programs and it isn't fun! I collect them, you see) and some new bathers (An essential because the idea of wearing someone's second hand bathers really disturbs me!)

So here's some tips to help you get started:
  • PARTY. If you have a party coming up, ask a friend if you could kindly borrow some clothes, shoes and jewellery instead of going out and buying it all new to wear once. If you can't borrow, hit up an opportunity, vintage or charity store. You never know what you'll find!
  • BIRTHDAY: If you have a birthday or occasion where you have to buy a present, why not get them an experience they won't forget. Try a hot air balloon ride, a dance class - or just take them out for a meal. You'll both get to enjoy something together and there won't be no awkward disappointed faces or dodgy returning of gifts.
  • FURNITURE: If you're about to move house and need some new furniture or homewares, you can find plenty of barely used good quality items online, at second hand furniture stores or op shops. Not only will it cost you a fraction of the price but it's good for the environment.
Check the website for more. There are heaps of amazing ideas going around.
It'll help your bank account and the planet.
