Today, I headed to Westfield Fountain Gate to see (I guess you'd call it) the new wing of the shopping centre. The centre was aflutter with shoppers rushing to check out over 100 new stores.
Boosting live entertainment and discounts; Kate Hill was offering free cupcakes (as below), Valleygirl was giving out free fairy floss/cotton candy, Cotton On had a live DJ and free photo booth, and if you were wise, you would have picked up a free booklet of store wide discounts. And more!
Jennifer Hawkins was there representing Myer and Dani Venn (from 2010 Masterchef Australia) demonstrated sweet treats and canapés.
Children were also rewarded with free face painting and balloons, plus clowns and magicians for entertain.
The new centre is very impressive but I can't help but think that he changes have taken away some of the old Fountain Gate charm. The thing I always liked was it was the place to go if you wanted a small (and more quiet) shopping centre with lots to offer. I will miss that.
