September 2025... and all that jazz!
> What I Bought:
I know, I know, I bought another pair of boots ($50) on sale. I wanted a smaller heel than my regular everyday pair as they're wearing to the point where they're a little too uncomfortable to wear for long days. I ended up finding a pair, hesitating, and going back two days later to buy them. The shop keeper said they weren't leather though, and they aren't except for a leather sock which DOES count as leather (which I don't buy/wear). It's too late to return them and I used a visa giftcard, so they ended up being free at least but I still feel bad about it. On the plus side, they are extremely comfortable - especially the sock part - so that's good for my feet.
Then I went to a department store I knew was closing that I was told had bargains. I didn't plan on buying anything, but I found one boot in a size 7 and walked around the store looking for its pair. I was there for so long and eventually I found three pairs in a size 7. Naturally they couldn't have been where I first looked. I spent so long looking for a second as well as undoing the laces to try it on, that I felt like I was so committed at that point that I had to get them. They were originally $30, down to $15 and I got them for $7.50. They are actually a copy of a pair I owned ages ago which I regretted getting rid of, so I justified it that way. I have boot issues...
And yes, I know. I know. I bought more art... a custom piece of art ($350). I'm actually really excited about it - even though I'm rattled with anxiety that I've made a mistake with it. The struggle is real :/ I did, however, mention it in last month's Low Buy Year wrap up so no one should be surprised by this haha.
I also ended up buying some Halloween earrings at the Reject Shop ($10) to wear throughout October.
Total: $367.50
I went to the theatre for Chess ($53 ticket^ and $10 programme), The 39 Steps (free ticket and programme) and American Psycho ($62 ticket^ and $25 programme).
^both past zip pay purchases
> Temptations:
I had signed up for the Selkie restocks of the Unicorn Defends Himself All Day Sweats and the Unicorn Defends Himself Pillow Sweater ages ago, but the presale is just SO expensive for me right now! I hear the quality is good and it's super soft, but I don't know if I can justify the price personally. I actually didn't own loungewear until the pandemic. Owning so much now makes me feel lazy. If I wanted to go out previously, I'd put a jumper over whatever dress I was wearing and leave the house. Now, it requires a lot more dressing, so I just end up doing nothing. It's a problem I want to fix and not buying this set will help in some small way.
There was a Betsey Johnson dress I liked on depop, but the person selling it is based in the US, so I don't know if I want to spend that much on a) the dress and b) the postage. I'm so torn!
I went to the city before The 39 Steps and was once again loving everything Halloween at TK Maxx.
I've also been obsessed with this one lace blazer from Alexander McQueen. It's long sold out now and there's none selling second hand. There are dupes by Temu and Gracia but I really don't want to buy from Temu, and Gracia seems to only sell to the US (even though they say they sell internationally). There's a couple of people on Poshmark US selling it for various prices, but I can't buy them from Australia. Alas, I'm hoping for ebay. The more I think about it though, I can't think of many outfits I could put together with it anyway which is a problem.
I'm very tempted to get a pair of Irregular Choice Halloween heels. I've always wanted a pair, especially one with an unconventional heel. With the company closing, I'm worried I won't ever get another chance, even though in my heart I know eBay and depop will still exist. And I probably shouldn't get shoes I'll wear one day of the year only anyway, so I'm seeing if there are any others I like enough that I can justify getting haha.
I saw some labubu magnets at a shop in Phillip Island that I was tempted to get. I left to think on it and came back to the shop later and realised they weren't actually magnets but stickers for nail art, so I kept my $5.
> What I Learnt:
I don't remember where I heard/read it, but it's been really motivating to think that everything I own used to be money. As I'm in the process of getting a European passport by descent, I keep thinking what I would take with me if I did move overseas. There's a lot I would like to keep but probably half would go. It's funny how items you find yourself attached to are so easy to say goodbye to when the time comes.
Until next month!
