EVENT: Cosplay Progress

I realize that I have not done a cosplay update post in a while, so what better time than the present? It has actually been a while that I've worked on it because I was waiting so long for the male jacket to arrive that it was seriously getting ridiculous! In true me-style though, as soon as it did arrive, I worked on it straight away.

So here's an update for anyone following along :)

THEME: Here's To The Zeros Poster Competition

So yesterday I had every intention of doing 10 things in my Christmas countdown but alas, I went out, then the thunder and lightening started, and I had to work on my MT poster entries. Usually I can bang out a graphic quite easily (not saying it would be any good, mind you) but my computer has a virus which makes me unable to use the internet or load certain programs - so it makes it very difficult to make anything. So with a combination of USBs (which stopped working just to annoy me midway) going between my PC and Mac laptop, downloading new graphic programs when the other ones failed, numerous frustrating hours and over 100 computer meltdowns; I made these.

I didn't win. I'm not at all bitter. Even if the winning entries were not the ones I would have necessarily chosen myself, I congratulate everyone on their win and those who participated. So why this post, you may ask yourself. Well, I worked hard on my entries and I figure maybe someone will get some use out of the graphics I made =D

The first one is a Christmas tree graphic with christmas light text, MT baubles and MT CDs under the tree. The second is a lyrics poster (it was a bitch to make! haha!) which I'm oh so proud of. I actually would like to get it made and printed into a poster because I love it so much. And hey, I may actually get some lyrics right for once - a very rare thing for me when it comes to MT :\

Anyway, I hope you like what I made. Feel free to take either and do what you'd like with it :)
Full res versions under the cut!

EVENT: Cosplay Progress

So as you may or may not have read - next year, I will cosplaying for the very first time at Oz Comic Con. It is both kind of exciting and mildly terrifying! I know there is many months to go but I wanted to share my progress with you. I have never given much thought into how much work goes into a cosplay so I thought it might be fun to give it a go!

I will be cosplaying as Queen Carolina from Mariana's Trench's Desperate Measures music video. You can watch it here. I am well aware that no one will know who I am and I may get mistaken for Alice. So be it. This is what I'm going as. I wanted something a little fun!

Details and photos under the cut!

BLOG: Josh Ramsay "On The Cheap" Doll Tutorial

I thought long and hard about if I should do this post or not - because, for me, it is an odd one. As some of you may know, I will doing my first cosplay next year at Oz Comic Con. Now, as I have never cosplayed before I thought it might be a neat idea to keep you up to date on my progress.

There seems to be two types of cosplayers - those who make their costumes and those who buy them. I don't see a problem with either way. I am doing a combination of both.

Some of you may be able to guess who I am going as after this post but - my first step - as part of my costume - was to make a Josh Ramsay "voodoo" doll essentially. So here's my little tutorial on how to make your own Josh Ramsay doll on the cheap.

This ^^^ is what we are going for!

You will need:
- cardboard
- wool (white, black optional)
- black felt
- gold nail polish
- buttons (optional)
- superglue and/or needle/black thread
- black marker
- scissors

Bare in mind, my Josh doll is not perfect! This is just to give you a working idea of how to make one - or dolls like it. All up, I spent $1.19 on felt as everything else I used I had at home :)

EVENT: 'That's Not A Knife Tour 2014' by Marianas Trench

So if you don't follow me on Twitter - you would not have seen that last weekend I went and saw Marianas Trench (which I just noticed their website info on Google describes them as punk/emo -Do emos even exist anymore- - Josh said pop/rock, but whatever) live in concert. Now, I should explain that I have no memory of how I found out about them - I remember seeing their video for Fallout and liking it - which started off this whole crazy thing for me - but I don't remember where or how I saw it. I am also aware too that most Australians have never heard of them.

However, it is oh so rare for me to fall as fast for a band as I did with them. And when I saw fall for I mean music wise - going into the concert I knew barely anything about them. I may or may not have even knew all the band members names :\ I guess I'm a pretty new trencher.

Fate works in mysterious ways sometimes. I had originally wanted to go to the midday show on Sunday but it was for under 18s only (sad-face) so being super ancient, my only choice was the over 18 show on the Saturday night. I bought tickets and only a few days later the Sunday show was changed to all ages (f.......ck!) so granted I was a little pissed. Any-who, I saw the Saturday show and LOVED it! I went straight home and bought tickets for the Sunday show at around 1am that morning. Thanks to the series of events that allowed me to go to the show twice.

I've included some interesting tidbits under the cut. I hope you enjoy!

VIDEO: Fallout by Marianas Trench

I went shopping with my Mum yesterday. She has a wedding next weekend so I offered to style her and took her shopping. I was in a shop and just HAD to ask what this song was when I heard it! I absolutely love it and can't stop listening to it!
