OUTFIT: Of Olde - Part One

tunic: peter alexander/ leggings: supre / boots: payless shoes

OUTFITS OF OLDE

A year ago, I had another blog. As I didn't have a photographer (which still is a bit of a problem now) I would take a mirror photo. I will probably re-do these photos sometime in the future, but for now, I wanted to share them with you.

This is part 1 - I'll share the other four soon.

Enjoy!

LOVE: Little Rain Long Sleeve Playsuit by Finders Keepers

Out of everything I've "loved" in the past month or so this Little Rain Long Sleeve Playsuit by Finders Keepers via The Iconic is by far my favourite! I adore the colours, the draping, the pockets, the buttons, the paperbag waist, the key hole collared neckline and the long sleeves! Basically, everything! But I'm totally bummed because I think there is a 1 in a million shot that this will suit my body shape. Sometimes it's bad to have curves - but I wouldn't have it any other way =D

LOVE: Zip Back Pullover by Sussan

Desperation to find a certain item causes desperate situations where you shop in stores that you may not normally shop in - like Sussan, a store I often like but only look in when I'm shopping with my mother. Still, this Zip Back Pullover by Sussan is my favourite mint clothing item I've seen in Australian stores so far so that'll teach me for not going in store more often =D

NEW: Cosmic Floral Wide PJ Pant by Peter Alexander and Above The Knuckle Rings by Love Hearts and Crosses

I bought these Cosmic Floral Wide PJ Pant by Peter Alexander last week and have been living in them ever since - I just hadn't gotten around to putting them up here. I had a conversation with the lovely lady working in the store that I hadn't bought any PA stuff since the Ballerina range (I have a big PA collection!)

These Above The Knuckle Rings by Love Hearts and Crosses came in the mail this week and I couldn't be happier. I've been looking for some cheap above the knuckle rings for a while - just so I can try them out to see if I like the look or not. Depending on how much I wear them, I might buy more styles and colours in the near future :)

Have a great weekend everybody!

LOVE: Painted Tank Top by SABA

One of my favourite combinations is black and white combined with orange. At the moment, I'm pretty much obsessed with it! Sad that it's not really the "in" trend for the moment - but it doesn't mean I can't obsess over it any less :)

Love this Painted Tank Top by SABA! I found it whilst on my search for the perfect black tunic - the search is still on ...

LOVE: Life Sucks Drinking Straw by Page Thirty Three

So I know this post has nothing to do with fashion but I wanted to share this Life Sucks Drinking Straw by Page Thirty Three somewhere and, as I couldn't pin it, what better way is there then to share on CLS. I love the whimsy in it! Reminds me of those crazy drinking straws you'd have when you were a kid. I'd love to hang this on the wall as an art piece instead of actually drinking from it - but that's just me =D

LOVE: Neon Contrast Shirt by Sportsgirl

Sorry for the lack of posts. With work and commitements, it's been hard to find time to post but I'm back - and happy to be back! I did some light shopping yesterday and very much liked this Neon Contrast Shirt by Sportsgirl. I'm still very much trying to find the leggings I like from Cotton On but still, no luck :\ I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

In other non-related news - My tickets for MSFM arrived in the mail on Monday =D, my Ipod dock died on me - my second one in a month (I have the worst luck ever!) and I've been trying to rush season 2 of The Almighty Johnsons on DVD as that arrived yesterday in the mail.

I'll have more for you later :) Happy Hump Day!

LOVE: Floral Border Tank by Portmans

I found this Floral Border Tank by Portmans (I think it's super cute - by the way!) whilest looking for a black tunic cami-type top. How come you can never find what you're looking for when you're looking for it?! It's time to stop looking so it finds me :) And I'm sure that's bound to happen eventurally.

Enjoy your week everybody!

PS. Masterchef finale this week - go Kylie!

LOVE: Rumba Dress/Skirt by Seduce

How similar is this Rumba Dress by Seduce via The Iconic to the Engineered Lace Shift by Portmans?
I prefer the Portmans dress but I LOVE the Rumba Skirt by Seduce a lot more!

LOVE: Freya Mod Print Dress by Sass

This Freya Mod Print Dress by Sass via Freez is very similar to a dress I saw in Sportsgirl not too long ago. It's a little shorter than I'm comfortable with but I love it anyway :)

LOVE: Drape Jersey Pleather Jacket by Kenji

Sometimes it's good idea not to check something out online after you've seen it in store - because it can sometimes turn you off. On the other hand, sometimes you may see something online and hate the look of it when you see it instore (that's happened to me on numerous occasions!). The internet is a wacky medium sometimes.

I loved this Drape Jersey Pleather Jacket by Kenji via Miss Shop - Myer when I saw it instore but somehow, it looks so much different and unappealing online. I love the drape look, the different textures, the cut and yet somehow, now I kinda don't.

And then I tried it on the other day and I fell in love with it all over again! It's a vicious cycle, lol.

VIDEO: I'll Be by Edwin McCain

I've said many times how diverse my music taste is but my absolute favourite singer is Edwin McCain. It always has been and forever will be. I'll Be is probably his most famous song but it's also my favourite. I go through stages of listening and at the moment, it's all about Edwin so I thought I'd share with you just incase you haven't heard this magical song I love so dear.

My other favourites are White Crosses, Prayer to St Peter and Jesters, Dreams and Thieves. Most of my usernames are somewhat Edwin related. It's quite funny!

LOVE: Fiorenza Heels by Wittner

Every time I walk past Wittner, I always stop and stare at the amazing array of spiked shoes they have - like these Fiorenza Heels. They are leather so I naturally cannot buy them, but I can appreciate how incredibly awesome they are none the less :)

TREND: Mirror Prints

Mirror Printed Vest by Miss Selfridge
Mirror Image Pencil Dress by Lipsy via ASOS
Printed Crepe-Jersey Dress by Roberto Cavalli

*

I love mirror prints. They remind me of making paper snowflakes and/or butterflies in primary school. You know where you'd fold a piece of paper in half, cut out a design and then you'd have a mirror image? It was also done with finger paints :)

I especially love the Printed Crepe-Jersey Dress by Roberto Cavalli. I've been obsessing over his stuff for a while and I just went insane and pinned most of his collection!

This collage was so hard to make because nothing matched together. Trend colours are so much easier to collage. And I'm going to have a colour one soon :)

LOOKBOOK: Take Me To The Moon by Peter Alexander

snippets | Peter Alexander

I haven't bought anything from Peter Alexander in a while. I tend to go with the theme - if I love it, I will buy almost the whole collection; and if I'm ho hum about it, I don't buy anything at all. But the Take Me To The Moon (July 2012) collection has me excited about PA once more! I love the prints and will definitely be buying some pieces from this collection. It's just a matter of when :)

LOVE: For Love Ring Volume II by Selda Okutan

This For Love Ring Volume II by Selda Okutan via Boticca is almost so wrong that it's right. I love little unique finds - I try to feature them as much as possible on my blog or pinterest. That's why I love Boticca so much! I love all the unique treasures you can purchase. I fully support buying instores but there's something nice about owning something that not many people have.

By the way, I'm back online! And I'm so happy to be back!

LOVE: Encased Crystal Pendant Long Necklace by Diva

I love love love this Encased Crystal Pendant Long Necklace by Diva! Everytime I see it, I love it even more. It reminds me of the stones in The Fifth Element.
And i'm nerdy enough to 1) think of that, 2) know about that and 3) buy it just for that reason.

I'm going to buy it sometime soon because I adore it!

LOVE: Contrast Bodycon Dress by Cotton On

Yesterday, I went food shopping but stopped into Cotton On for a second. There was this poster of a model wearing the most amazing pants (jeans? leggings? something??) but I couldn't find them anywhere in store and I was in a hurry, so didn't have time to ask. Now I can't even find any mention of them online. Hopefully this means that they will be released soon because the pattern on them is so gorgeous! I will share once I find them.

I do so like this Contrast Bodycon Dress by Cotton On.

LOVE: Calypso Tank by Sportsgirl

I have such a love/hate relationship with shopping. I love it because I love to see all the amazing items that you can play around with (even if sometimes you have no intention of buying ;)) but the hatred comes from not being able to buy every little thing that you see. I guess that's a reason why I like shopping with/for other people because their happiness makes me happy. It's a great feeling to know that somebody else is happy with their purchases.

Speaking of which, I hope this week to buy a very gorgeous dress I've had my eye on.

I went shopping last Saturday and saw so many amazing things including this Calypso Tank by Sportsgirl. It combines my love of bright yellow with a sort of aztec-like design. I saw other amazing pieces which will be on my blog soon.

At the moment my internet is a bit sketchy and cuts out like crazy! If I disappear for a little while - I'm sorry - but it's simply out of my control :\ Hopefully it'll be sorted before then.

Enjoy your week everybody!

OUTFIT: Walking Hand In Hand

This outfit is one of my favourite outfits to wear out for dinner on colder nights. The shearling keeps me warm - and I do love to flash my legs :) Funny as this dress is also my absolute favourite dress in my wardrobe - it's one size too big but I love it too much to care. I wore it to the Caulfield Cup last year with more dressed up accessories and it went down a treat. It creases so easily but that's not as much of a problem anymore because of my new clothes steamer.

I wish I wore these shoes more because they are so comfortable. (This outfit is part of the Forgotten Collection).

LOVE: Stencil Dress by Princess Polly

I love the shoulder detail on this Stencil Dress by Princess Polly. It's almost a tad goth, a little rock and roll and a sexy little spider (which makes sense, right?!), which I like.

x

LOVE: New Aztecs Dress by Princess Polly

This New Aztecs Dress by Princess Polly reminds me a little of the Zig Zag Ombre Shirt Dress that I posted  a couple of weeks ago but a little less conservative. I'm a HUGE fan of the Aztec trends so it's a winner with me ... and I adore the neckline. It's sexy without showing a lot of skin up top. Gorge!

NEW: Fiorelli Bag, Kmart Boots and Bevilles Bracelet

Last weekend, I bought a bag from Fiorelli, wedge boots from Kmart and a bracelet from Bevilles. They were all bargains! I got 25% off the bag because the nice shop lady liked that I didn't buy/like leather products, the shoes were under $20 and the bracelet was on sale for about $6 (I snagged the last one!)

Unfortunately, I have to take the shoes back because they are a bit big. If I can find a smaller size than I will replace them, otherwise I'll try and find a replacement sometime in the future. I was bummed though because they are so comfy and a little higher than my other wedge boots. I wanted to wear them last Sunday but obviously couldn't :\

Also 'Booky Wook' by Russell Brand came in the mail on Tuesday. I'm so pleased! I have 'Booky Wook 2' but I figured I should probably read them in order and now I can :) It's been a good week!

Enjoy your weekend everybody!

LOVE: Flower Printed Beige Chiffon Shirt by Romwe

I wish Romwe would stop bringing out such lovely stuff! It's bad enough that they have new stuff everyday but when everything is so lovely, it's so hard to resist. I so love/want this Flower Printed Beige Chiffon Shirt. It's so perdy!

I found the most AMAZING dress today! I have featured it on the blog before in a different colour but I do plan on buying it soon and when I do, I will definitely share :) Ah, so in love with it! Stay tuned ...

LOVE: Ying Yang Boot by Betts

I went shopping last week on a mission to find shoes for Oz Comic Con. I have so many shoes but I really wanted some black wedge boots - I needed height so I didn't look so midge next to a certain tall celebrity *coughCorincough* - and I instantly fell in love with these Ying Yang Boot by Betts! I love the combination of (faux, mind you!) leather and suede. It's really unique - and I really do love unique.

I ended up not buying them because of a rude person in the store - she tried to push me over ... anyway - so I left the store in a hurry. I do so like a good sale item! I'm really itching to buy a new pair of shoes it seems, with yesterday's and today's entries being about shoes :)

LOVE: Limelight Glitter Boot by Dotti

About a month ago, Sportsgirl had a huge sale and I had my eye on some black glitter boots. I first spotted them online, but when I saw them in store and tried them on, I realised that they weren't "me". They were a bit too flashy for my style.

But I do so like these Limelight Glitter Boot by Dotti. I like that they are only half glittery so they wouldn't draw as much attention as full on glitter. 30% off now and they are out of my size - boo :'(

BLOG: Questions and Answers

Firstly, I want to say the biggest THANKYOU to everyone who has viewed my blog, left a comment and of course, all my followers. Last month was extraordinary! You do the blog for you but it's always so rewarding when you know that people actually like it. I'm always surprised by my numbers every month! I know my numbers don't even compare to larger blogs but the fact that my numbers keep going up makes me more happy than if they were to go down :)

I thought, as my ABOUT page is currently being updated, I'd do a bit of a Q&A with common questions and questions I've been asked in the past.

How tall are you?
160cm or 5'3. I'm short :)

Where do you live?
I was born and raised in Melbourne. I've lived here all my life except for the one year I spent living in the Netherlands (Rotterdam/Leiden) in 2010. I've done a lot of travelling and I can't wait to do more in the future! Still, my favourite place in the whole entire world is Sydney. I love it there and try to get up there as many times as possible!

How do you make money?
I admin and freelance style on the side. My ideal job would be to work in the wardrobe department on various TV shows :)

Do you have twitter, instagram, facebook etc?
I just recently opened my twitter up again so I'll post about that soon - the link will be under the header :) I don't have facebook. And my instagram account is currently private. I may make it public one day and when I do, you will know :)

Where did the name for your blog come from?
Check this post [here]

Do you have any tips for becoming a stylist?
Check this post [here]

Why did you start a blog?
I wanted to start an outfit blog back in 2010 when I was living in Holland but I didn't have a lot of clothes with me - even though I bought so much! when I was over there - so I felt like I wouldn't be able to put a lot of time/effort into it.

When I came back to Australia, I opened my blog Tinsel and Tapshoes. I ran it for a year and then realised that I wasn't enjoying it. The voice wasn't me and I hated that I wasn't being true to myself. So I closed down the blog and started my new one CLS and I've been so much happier! This blog is me. I would like to post more outfit posts in the future when I can :)

Do you have any tips for new bloggers?
Blogging is hard. It takes a lot of time and effort. Do it because you love it and stay true to you. A lot of newbies blog for followers or freebies and then get frustrated because opportunities aren't presented to them fast enough so they stop posting.

I can honestly say that I love reading my blog and I think that that's a good thing. I'm proud of it. I'm proud of the layout and the progress I've made. I'm sure I could probably get more followers if I change my blog up a bit but it wouldn't be true to me so I'm not going to do that.

So most importantly, make sure your heart is in it :)

Do you have any favourite blogs?
I do but my favourites change all the time. I do like a lot of plus size bloggers because I love plus size fashion, even though I'm too small to fit into it.

Why don't you do more outfit posts?
Honestly, it's hard for me because I haven't told too many people about my blog so I take outfit photos when my photographer is free. I would like to as I enjoy it very much but I'm doing my best to get as many outfits as possible :)

Who made your blog look so good?
My blog is all me. I created the header using Paintshop Pro and Microsoft Word - so very easy stuff. I wanted it to look clean. I also hate animated ads and too many ads so I try to keep them as out of the way as possible :) And I'm sure you've noticed, I like everything to be organised hence the entry title catergories :)

What is with all the event posts? I thought this was a fashion blog?
It is and it's not. As I've said, I like reading my blog so I like going back to my event pages and reading about what I've done and where I've been. I very much like meeting celebrities and seeing what they are really like. I'm really not very nerdy even if I have been to conventions in the past :) I would die though if I ever met David Hewlett. He's one of my absolute favourite actors ever! (I probably wouldn't have watched Stargate Atlantis if not for him - and honestly, I tend to only watch "his" episodes on DVD)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask and I shall answer :) I'm a bit of a bad emailer so best ask here - but if you prefer email, I will get back to you asap - promise!

My ABOUT page will be back up soon.

Have a great week everybody!

EVENT: Oz Comic Con 2012

Yesterday I attended Oz Comic Con. Apparently it has nothing to do with the actual Comic Con - they simply stole the name or something like that. I tell myself every time that I'm not going to go to these things because I never truly enjoy myself but then they announce a big name and I simply can't resist! This year it was show-business royalty, Sir Patrick Stewart (I mean, COME ON, who can say no to him?!) My father raised my sister and I on Star Trek and, even though neither of us can remember a single episode, we still have this secret love for him that we can't explain. A lot of people were there to see Stan Lee but I had no interest in him simply because I don't know much about him.

So just like Supanova, I dragged myself out of bed at 6am (well 6.20 by the time I felt somewhat motivated) and left my house before 7am to catch the train into the city. I had heard such terrible things about the event so my excitement to go was very low. I expected big crowds and queues but the feedback from Saturday was something that I wasn't expecting - so I was hoping that Sunday would be an improvement.

VERY VERY text heavy!

Details regarding Patrick Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Jason Momoa, Corin Nemec, Mitch Pileggi, Sharon Taylor, Armin Shimerman, Max Grodenchik and Hudson Leick under the cut :)

>>> I'm sure there are parts/questions I've missed/forgotten but I've tried my best.

LOVE: Pink Lace Tunic Dress by Richard Nicoll for Topshop

I saw this Pink Lace Tunic Dress by Richard Nicoll for Topshop in last weekend's Sunday Magazine and I absolutely adore it! The Topshop in Melbourne is a bit far from me so I'm not often in the area so I don't always have a chance to go there. I think eBay is going to be my only hope for owning this dress :\

It's gorgeous. I adore the whole Richard Nicoll for Topshop collection. It almost makes me wish that I was getting married. All my bridesmaid would wear the dress above for sure!
